Took part in an adventure race this past month that started at 4:00am and completed at 1:00pm. After a couple of kilometer walk we hopped into some inflatable kayaks and headed out across the lake picking up points at different locations around the perimeter.
After paddling through some big white cap waves, our next task was on our mountain bikes picking up points over a 20km area.
Lastly was our hike through the forest searching for point locations. Now nearing the end of the race we got back on the bikes and headed to the finish line. Good times were had by all.
It would seem as we get older, exercise and stretching get forgotten by many. Recently while taking lessons in Kite Boarding I realized my flexibility had diminished considerably. The instructor asked me to reach down and grab the handle on the board. I couldn’t flex enough to reach it with a wetsuit, life jacket, harness and a belly in the way. I was so mad at myself that I swore that would be the last time that happened and the first step in my recovery to feeling young again. Since that August day in 2016, I’ve stretched almost every morning. Not only do I feel good stretching but I feel good all day long. It’s not aerobic or muscle exercise but changes the way you approach the day.
